In the essay, "Social Media Research Raises Privacy and Ethics Issues" by Sharon Jayson, the main topic is that social media users' every online moves leaves cyber footprints. Users have a bigger audience than they ever anticipated. Jayson's purpose is to inform social media users to be careful when using the internet. The reason is because big companies like Facebook, Microsoft, google and many more social networks are able to trace and track anyone's search. Facebook data scientist Adam Kramer also agrees with Jayson. Kramer states that "Privacy is a big issue for the research world." Researchers have access to everyones' posts online. A study at the University of Vienna shows that almost half of Facebook users left the site because of privacy concerns. Be cautious when using social media because your cyber footprints can come back and haunt you forever.
